Tasting Table’s 2011 Lobster Roll Rumble is our marquee event benefiting Share Our Strength charity.

The Rumble will host 17 of the country’s best lobster rolls as they vie for the title of ‘TT Fan Favorite’. Rumble attendees will be able to try each roll–and cast their vote–while cooling down with Hendrick’s summer cocktails, Stella Artois beers, Blüfeld Riesling, San Pellegrino and Maine Root sodas.

And since lobster rolls love company, Brooklyn Brine will be on hand to serve pickles; Deep River Snacks will put out buckets of chips; and 10 of the city’s best dessert purveyors will dish out their signature treats on our rooftop Dessert Deck. So buy a ticket and start the summer off right with Tasting Table!

The Lobster Roll Rumble will be held at Center 548 in Chelsea (548 W 22nd St, New York, NY 10011).

Doors open for VIP guests at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. for general admission guests.  

To buy tickets – there are two types available: General admission and VIP access. Both are only available for purchase online (click here to buy). But act fast: The Rumble is certain to sell out.

A general admission ticket ($130) grants you entry to the Rumble Main Event from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., where you’ll sample 17 lobster rolls, savory sides, treats from 10 dessert stations and an open bar pouring cocktails, wine, beer and soda.

A VIP ticket ($250) includes all general admission benefits PLUS: early (6:30 to 7:30 p.m.) VIP access to the Rumble, entry to the VIP lounge and an exclusive gift bag that will be the envy of your friends.  (The VIP Rumble gift bag will incorporate high-end gourmet foodstuffs and accessories, including items from OXO, Lucini Italia, Brooklyn Slate, Stella Artois, Blüfeld and Fleisher’s Organic Meats.)

A Victorian Garden Party: Mingle at the Museum event

Event Date: Wednesday, June 8 – 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Though many associate the Victorian era with prudishness, Victorians knew how to throw a party. Celebrate the arrival of summer in the true spirit of the Victorian era by attending a charming garden party in one of Washington’s great gardens: the Enid A. Haupt Garden adjacent to the Smithsonian Castle. Stroll past the grand magnolia trees and manicured Victorian parterre. With a refreshing herb-infused cocktail in hand, learn from Smithsonian Gardens’ curators and educators how to incorporate elements of Victorian tradition into your garden. Rediscover the Victorian tradition of expressing feelings through the language of flowers and create your own bouquet. Admire reproductions of the Historic Gardens Postcard Collection and create a keepsake invitation of your evening in the garden.



Schedule

6:30 p.m.:
•   Will-call tickets are available at the Jefferson Dr. SW entrance to the Enid A. Haupt Garden
•   Ticket sales begin (limited number if event is not sold out)
•   Doors Open

6:30-9:00 p.m.:
•   Create a small floral arrangement inspired from the Smithsonian gardens
•   Design a parterre inspired by the one in the Haupt Garden
•   Chat with American History Museum’s Chef Bednar about using herbs and garden flavors fresh from the museum’s Victory Garden
•   Create a garden postcard invitation inspired by the Smithsonian Gardens’ historic postcard collection
•   Mingle with Smithsonian Gardens curators and educators
•   Cash bar featuring Heineken products and specialty cocktail
•   Light garden-themed hors d’oeuvres


Featured Exhibition: Enid A. Haupt Garden

The Enid A. Haupt Garden is a public garden in the Smithsonian complex in Washington, D.C. Covering over four acres, it is situated between the Smithsonian Castle and Independence Avenue and has provided a welcomed respite for Smithsonian visitors and residents of Washington since it opened in 1987 as part of the redesigned Castle quadrangle.
