No matter where you live or what you do, festivals are a summer tradition that always has something for everyone.  Whether it’s the National Capital Barbeque Battle, the DC Jazz Fest, the Uncle Sam Jam or Black Family Reunion – every great festival has a combination of food, parades, fireworks, vendors and of course, great music.  This summer boasts some of the best festivals in and around DC, so definitely check out some of June’s hottest musical performances – festival style!

June 1st – 12th : 36th Annual Capital Pride Celebration 2011 – Various Locations & Events (DC)

  • Capital Pride is the annual celebration of the LGBT community in the Nation’s capital.  Traditionally held the over the first full week of June each year, the Capital Pride program includes a parade, performances, a festival, “Pride Idol”, pageants, fashion shows and more.  Capital Pride works to produce a diverse programming line-up each year to celebrate the heritage and lives of the LGBT community and its allies.

June 1st – 13th : DC Jazz Fest – Various Locations & Events (DC)

  • With more than 100 performances in dozens of venues across the city, the DC Jazz Festival is the largest music festival in Washington, D.C. and one of the most highly anticipated cultural events in the nation. The Festival presents year-round music education programs and concerts for DC students and residents by local, national and internationally-known talent at venues across D.C., promotes music integration in school curricula, and supports outreach to expand and diversify the audience of jazz enthusiasts.
